Every figure above is computed from the dataset at build time, not written by hand. One dataset is live today, covering every hospital paid under Medicare's outpatient system; the catalog grows from there.

What's in the data

The same procedure, priced 199× apart.

Most hospitals cluster in a narrow band. A long tail bills many times more for the identical procedure group — and until you load all of it, you cannot see which is which.

And what is paid

Hospitals bill a median of 6.2× what Medicare allows.

The charge is close to a fiction — Medicare pays its own rate regardless. That gap is the single most useful thing in the file, and it is invisible until both columns sit side by side.

Across 63,518 rows carrying both figures. At the extreme, 100.7×.

Security

Built for teams that depend on the answer.

Vemon serves public data, so there is no customer data to lose — but the platform still has to behave like infrastructure.

  • TLS 1.3 in transit
    Every endpoint, no exceptions.
  • Scoped API keys
    Rotate and revoke without downtime.
  • Request logging
Every call attributable, retained 90 days.
  • Versioned datasets
Query the data as it was, not as it is.
  • Published provenance
Every figure traces to its source file.

Vemon holds no security certifications today. When that changes, this section will say which ones and link the report.
